Sunday October 22, 2006 promised to
be an exciting day for Boreal Cattery and
delivered in every aspect on our
expectations.
We took Samuel and Celestina to
compete for their CCA Grand Champion
titles. They both performed
spectacularly; the crowd displayed a
very positive reaction as they were
shown to the judges. Celestina with
her great looks and Samuel's
outstanding physique and demeanor won
the hearts of many cat lovers present
at the show.
Samuel first took a tenth place in
the All Breed followed by a ninth
place in the Specialty category. Not
to be out done Celestina wowed the
crowd and received a seventh best cat
award in the Shorthair category.
The competition keeps getting
stronger and we were impressed by the
ever increasing quality of the cats
displayed in the Canadian Cat
Association shows.

Samuel enters fatherhood ! |
|
Here we are October already,
maple leafs are turning to red, the air
getting cooler, ducks and geese flying south,
all sings that winter is fast approaching.
Since our last update celebrating Samuel's
Birthday many things have happened. We are
thrilled to announce that our Samuel has
sired two litters when just 10 months old.
Samuel has now entered a new a new phase in
his life and taken it's place at the top of
our breeding program. He will continue going
to cat shows to compete for his Grand
Champion Title and meet cat fanciers
everywhere.
Cherie and Mourka gave birth on September 12
and 17 respectively to five beautiful healthy
kittens. Both moms and kittens are doing
great, the kittens are steadily getting
bigger day by day.
The new kittens will be available to join
their adoptive families at the end of
November 2006.
More kitten photos are
available on the Kitten
Page.
Samuel is now courting
our youngest Queen Celestina. We are
anxiously waiting for the
confirmation of pregnancy to announce
the happy news.
This highly anticipated litter will
be the first for Celestina and
promises to produce outstanding
kittens. Her striking good looks and
Samuel strong characteristics will
surely prove to be a winning
combination.

CH Lithodora Samuel de Boreal
join our family on December 6, 2005. He since has
gained a big part of our hearts.
Shy private little
guy at first, and look at him how, a strong virile
young male ready to take his place at the center of
our British Shorthair program... We wish him 9 long
happy lives.

Finding loving homes for our babies and meeting the
new parents has been a Joy.
Congratulations to all and a long and happy life
together.
We attended the Acton Ontario CCA Cat Show, the
Rochester NY CFA show, and finally the BIG CCA CNE
Cat Show at the Ex.
We have confirmed Samuel and
Cherie as CFA Champions, and on the CCA site our
sweet Celestina also qualified for the Championship
title.

Our little cattery is growing steadily. We are
dedicated to showing, promoting, and breeding the
legendary British Shorthair Cat for more families to
love and enjoy the company of a Brit.

Super Mom takes over!
One morning we opened the nursery room door and
discovered that during the night Cherie went into
Mourka's maternity pen and took each kittens one by
one and transported them to her own pen and started
to feed and care for the whole gang.
She continued doing this every time she had a chance
to steal away a kitten or more from Mourka who for a
while had problems with her math.
Cherie's superior maternal instinct plus her love and
dedication to all babies demonstrate that Cherie
truly deserves a special place in our hearts, a
privileged position at Boreal Cattery and the Super
Mom Title.
The example rubbed off on Paula who also was seen
many times feeding the other Queens kittens.

The No Name Cat Club held its 2006 Cat Show at the
new Wassaga Beach Recreational Centre. The facilities
and the show hall were immaculate and the event was
flawless, the public enjoyed beautiful cats and
kittens on display and took time to attend many
judging sessions.
We attended the show this time with Samuel and Celestina. Tina came along to keep Sam company at the
show and to build up his confidence. This time Samuel was a little more at ease and once he received
his 4 ribbons necessary to obtain his CCA Champion title, he then went on to win a Third Best Shorthair Cat Award on his last ring.
We were very proud of his performance but the surprise of the day was Celestina finalizing in
every ring she attended, winning awards ranging from First Best to Third Best Kitten in every rings.
Further more at the end of the day she won the Best of the Best Kitten Award for the whole show, defeating many
beautiful exotic types like Persians, Ragdolls, Maine Coons and Scottish Folds, a feat rarely accomplished by a British Shorthair kitten.
We were extremely surprised and pleased by her performance considering that she just came along to offer comfort to Samuel during the show.
Celestina will attend her first show as an adult accompanied by Samuel on June 25,
in Acton, Ontario. We are looking forward to the event and are anxious to see Celestina getting her CCA
Champion ribbon and go on to compete against Samuel in the final rings.

The Golden Triangle Cat Fancier
club was proud to present their 30th anniversary cat
show at the Gault Arena in Cambridge Ontario on May
27-28, 2006.
The show was open to the public and attended by
many breeders from Canada and United States. It
showcased 129 beautiful cats of various breeds, all
displaying the highest standards The Cat Fanciers
Association offers.
We attended the event with our young stud Samuel. This was his first show and he demonstrated his shyness by hiding his face under
my arms as I took him to and from the judging tables.
He gradually improved and showed greater confidence toward the
end of the day when he realized that this wasn't a cat market and we were not going to sell him.

Samuel attracted looks and
received many compliments regarding his thick lush coat and his strong muscular body.
He obtained 3 of his 6 ribbons required
to achieved his Champion Title in CFA and is well on his way to Grand Champion status. Useless to say that he was very
happy to get back home to tell all the others about his experience.
So many people, so many cats, some without any hair,
others you couldn't tell which end was which.
