Angie and CB have been adopted
As a result of a rare external mating opportunity, our resident stud, Int.Ch. Samuel is now the father of a colorful litter.
During a cat show in NY State our blue male Samuel, took a liking to a beautiful Grand Champion British Shorthair female named Hermione.
The attraction was mutual and soon after sweet Hermione took on a beautiful maternal glow and to her discomfort a considerable amount of weight.
There was no denying the fact, the happy couple was going to have babies. August 7 rolled in and soon the cries of beautiful little furry kittens could be heard throughout the cattery.
Hermione herself a dilute calico queen gave life to 3 beautiful kittens, a cream boy, a blue and white girl and like herself a dilute calico girl.
The happy kittens are now 17 weeks old and have grown considerably since the day all of them could fit in my hand.
We now proudly offer them for adoption to kind loving families.
They have been properly socialized and have learn the ins and out of being part of a family.
They love being petted and the sound of their purrs resonate from wall to wall making our other cats envious of the attention. The kittens have been named Beatrice, Angelique and CB for the time being. They are ready to become part of your family any time.
If you are interested in this rare adoption opportunity please contact us and we'll arrange for a visit.
Imagine Christmas morning with a new family member running around the house.
Samuel's pedigree can be viewed on our site and Hermione's can be seen by request via e-mail. |

Bloke achieves TICA's Quadruple Grand Champion title!

The International Cat Association show
in Toledo, Ohio
September 28 - 29, 2007
TICA, The International Cat Association hosted on September 28 and 29 the "On Safari" cat show in Toledo Ohio.
The safari theme was chosen to highlight Bengals, a very distinct breed with a beautiful spotted coat resembling Leopards from the African plains
One hundred and twenty five Bengals were registered for this event, they came from all over the world, even Queensland, Australia, where our Bloke was born.
His large stocky body and magnificent blue coat really made him stand out in this spotted crowd.
This was the very first time Bloke attended a TICA show, he even managed to get his TICA Champion title and accumulated around 800 points toward his Grand Champion title. Bloke appears to enjoy traveling and wasn't intimidated by the presence of over two hundred and fifty of the best cats in the around.

The crowning achievement was when he was chosen for two finals, he placed 9th best out of 78 cats in All Breed and 9th best out of 61 cats in the Short Hair category. His breeder Carolynne Power from Kaloofa Cattery is surely proud of him.
We look forward for him to achieve Grand Champion status in all three associations: CFA, TICA and CCA.
The latest news is,
soon after the Washington DC show Bloke started showing more and more interest in the opposite sex.
He demonstrated a lot of attention toward our beautiful young queen Yiana, fortunately the attraction was mutual. All we needed to do was provided a private location, soft lighting and romantic music.
Not long after Yiana could be seen exhibiting a permanent smile as Bloke stood by with a unmistakable look on his face.
The litter is due by November 22 and we are anxiously looking forward to the wonderful moment. New kittens are always special and this litter even more.
Visit us again for the latest news and see you at a show near by. |
The National Capital Cat Show in Washington, DC
September 8 - 9, 2007
The National Capital Cat Show in Washington, DC is an event to remember.
The city of Washington with its incredible hospitality, beautiful monuments and world class museums is a recommended destination for everyone.
For us it was a exciting opportunity to explore a new city, meet other cat breeders and access Bloke's attributes against the best of the best.
For Bloke the idea of spending a week away from his buddies was not sitting well.
Despite his obvious lack of enthusiasm, he soon found himself on the back seat of a taxi on his way to the airport, followed by one hour flight in the cargo compartment and a shuttle ride to our pet friendly hotel in Washington.
Our travel buddy Bloke soon made himself right at home in our luxurious hotel room, acting like he owned the place.
The show was incredible, we have never seen so many people attending a cat show.
The quality of the 435 cats displayed was outstanding.
They came from all over the United States and Canada, long, short and hairless cats of all colors, sizes and breeds, even cats with parts missing.
The biggest surprise for us was the show catalog indicating only two British Shorthair cats entered in the Championship class, Bloke and Rock-A-Billy, the current top ranking British Shorthair cat in CFA 2007-2008 show season.
The incredible thing is that no British Shorthair Championship cats were included in the finals.
It became obvious that our quest for glory was hopeless. This unfortunate situation just gave us more time to meet British Shorthair fans in Washington DC area, where, apparently, the British Shorthair is still a breed that is not often seen outside show halls.
We may have returned home empty handed but we are rich in memories to last a life time. See you all at the next show.
A big thanks to the people at Customs Canada for being very understanding in regards to Bloke's attempt at bringing some US grown catnip.

August 19, 2007
On August 19 we attended the Rochester NY CFA cat show with our young male Kaloofa Downunda Bloke. It was a great opportunity for him to increase the point count toward his CFA Grand Champion title.
Our endeavor was successful as he took in 35 more grand points. Bloke left a good impression with the judges had many positive remarks.
Bloke is a fine example of his breed. He will soon make Caroline Power of Kaloofa Cattery in Australia very proud. Bloke is destined to embark on his breeding career here at Boreal Cattery, where he will surely sire many beautiful kittens. He is showing a keen interest in the opposite sex, the girls just love his handsome looks and gentle demeanor.

According to the Canadian
Cat Association (CCA) standards, the British
Shorthair is a chubby, well balanced, powerful cat
with a medium to large body, thick neck, and massive
head. It's charming face has full cheeks, a medium
broad nose, and large wide-set eyes usually of a
copper or orange color. British Shorthair cat is self-possessed and
undemanding. This breed is a delight to own, being
intelligent, affectionate and not temperamental, a
quiet, unobtrusive cat. They have quiet voices and
although not “lap cats” they will sit contentedly
beside humans. British Shorthair is an affectionate
cat that will seek out and enjoy attention, but
quietly and without overwhelming demands.
Regarding the role of the British Shorthair cats as
part of a household, The
Cat Fancier's Association (CFA) describes them as
always in quiet control of his or her environment,
supervising everyone and everything that happens in
the family. A larger sized cat that prefers to be on
the ground, Brits are not known for acrobatics or
speed. However, they are steadfast companions to the
entire family and definitely look before they leap.
When gracelessness is observed, the British Shorthair
is duly embarrassed; quickly recovering with a
“Cheshire Cat smile”.
According to F. M. Rowley in her book “British
Shorthair Cat”, unlike many other breeds, the
origin of the British Shorthair cats is not lost in
legends and myths. Its ancestral stock traces
directly back to the domestic cats taken from Egypt
to Rome, and later to Britain. Most likely, the
ancestors of modern British Shorthair cats arrived to
Britain after the 2nd century AD when Roman
colonization in Britain was well established.
The
Cat Fancier's Association (CFA), the world's
largest cat registry, confirms that the British
Shorthair is a comparatively rare cat in the United
States. Around 1980 it was recognized for
championship competition by CFA stimulating much
needed interest in the breed. Recognized world-wide,
many fine “Brits” are still imported today from
England, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia to help
widen the gene pool for breeders in the United
States.
The British Shorthair is gaining in popularity every
year as it is bred and exhibited by an increasing
number of enthusiastic fanciers.
Because of its easy-going nature and intelligence, it
has become a favorite of animal trainers, for use in
Hollywood films and television commercials.
- Round face with full cheeks
- Medium in size with round tips ears
- Dense, with crisp feel coat, very easy to
groom
- Short and thick tail with blunt tip
- Weight ranges from 9-18 lb (4-8kg)
- Large, round eyes ranging in color from gold,
copper to orange, depending on the coat color

I'll lend you for a little while,
My grandest cat, said God.
For you to love while she's alive,
And mourn for when she's not.
It may be one or twenty years,
Or days or months, you see.
But will you, till I take her back,
Take care of her for me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you
And should her stay be brief,
You'll have those treasured memories,
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught on earth
I want this cat to learn.
I've looked the wide world over
In my search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
With trust, I have selected you.
Now will you give her all your love?
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come
To take her back again?
I know you'll give her tenderness
And love will bloom each day,
And for the happiness you've known,
You will forever-grateful stay.
But should I come and call for her
Much sooner than you'd planned,
Please brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.
